Over a fortnight subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of renowned film director Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones are still paying respects to the duo.

‘Life is Pain Without You’: Cary Elwes Remembers His Director

Writing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he only now felt able to express about his personal sorrow.

"Adequate time has passed that I can now put my grief into words," wrote Elwes, adding that his first meeting with Reiner made him fall in love. "When we commenced spending more time together I knew this was someone I wanted in my life."

The actor shared behind-the-scenes footage from the film, remarking that he cannot recall "one day without laughter".

"This story is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Values that Rob cherished deeply. Which is among the many reasons he was the best person to helm it," Elwes continued.

He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, noting: "Claiming that they were a formidable pair would be an understatement. My heart still pangs every time I think of you." He concluded with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."

Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Friend and Collaborator

In a different piece, revered director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.

"From the start, I loved being with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese shared.

Scorsese highlighted Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the main character.

"He could improvise with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked seamlessly with everyone, and he comprehended the human predicament of his character," Scorsese noted.

Legal Developments: Autopsy Reports Withheld

This week, a Los Angeles court official decided to bar the publication of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, following a petition from the LAPD.

A court order placed a restriction on the investigation to limit the public release of "related notes, evidence and photographs" associated with the ongoing investigation.

The Medical Examiner's office had already determined their deaths were the consequence of murder, with a official listing citing the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".

Aftermath and Reactions

After the deaths, public personalities offered varying comments.

Former President Donald Trump posted on the matter, making controversial claims that were broadly criticized by many individuals.

Podcaster Joe Rogan added his perspective to the critics last week. Conversing on his program, Rogan described the comments as "disappointing" and suggested they revealed a troubling deficiency of sympathy.

Rogan finished by suggesting that an adviser could have stepped in when the choice to weigh in on the tragedy was made.
