Hulu to Bring a Far Cry TV Show from the Creators of the Alien Series and the Comedy Hit.
The newest action-packed instalment that players experienced was Far Cry 6, which showcased Giancarlo Esposito as the antagonist, Antón, and was released on October 6, 2021. As a series, it is known for celebrating action and insanity with similar excitement, all while weaving engaging, politically driven stories. Little surprise that FX's recent announcement for a Far Cry anthology series attracted two producers whose projects have represented all of those things.
What to Expect
Based on Ubisoft's successful video game series, the self-contained anthology series will stream on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The anthology will also parallel the video games' style by having a different location and ensemble in every instalment.
Executive Team
Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as lead producers on the series via their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
The network enjoyed excellent relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are working together for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is fresh, gripping, and wildly entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our associates at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this popular property.”
Upcoming Developments
Mac will also star in the show, but currently, we do not know what role that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently approved for more episodes, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new long-term contract with the creator.
“Having the opportunity together with Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably generous, entrusting us with one of the most famous video-game worlds ever created. And throughout this process, my FX partners constantly supports me with their constant confidence and backing.”
“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an standalone show. Every instalment is a take of a theme, the same way every series of Fargo is a adaptation on a story,” noted Hawley. “To develop a epic action show that can shift from year to year, while always exploring the core of humanity through this complex and turbulent lens, is a long-held aspiration. I’m excited to work with Rob and present our common bold, daring style to the screen.”
A schedule for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
