Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched missile attacks throughout the Middle East in response for a large-scale and ongoing attack against it by the United States and Israeli forces.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area close to the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any damage is uncertain and the American officials has not commented.

Regional Interceptions

In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait - all home to US military bases - stated they have shot down missiles in their airspace.

In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the attack on Iran initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday.

That preceding assault - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted sites linked to the the regime, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the people of Iran to revolt against the regime.

Additional Developments

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israeli military said it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE stated that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses engaged the missiles with great effectiveness and shot down a series of missiles," it added.

The statement noted debris fell on a residential area in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some property damage and fatalities.

The United States Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
