Donald Donald Trump has announced he is hiking duties on items shipped from Canada after the province of the Ontario government ran an anti-import tax ad including former President Ronald Reagan.

In a social media update on Saturday, the President described the advertisement a "misrepresentation" and lashed out at Canadian leaders for not pulling it prior to the baseball championship.

"Due to their major distortion of the reality, and aggressive move, I am increasing the duty on Canada by ten percent in addition to what they are paying now," Trump posted.

Subsequent to Donald Trump on Thursday withdrew from commercial discussions with Canadian officials, the Ontario premier said he would remove the commercial.

Ontario's Reaction

Ontario Premier the Premier said on Friday that he would suspend his province's anti-tariff advertisement campaign in the US, advising the media that he chose after consultations with Prime Minister Mark Carney "to ensure commercial discussions can continue".

He added it would still run over the weekend, during contests for the World Series, which includes the Toronto team against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Commercial Situation

Canada is the exclusive G7 nation that has not achieved a agreement with the US since Donald Trump commenced attempting to impose high duties on items from key commercial allies.

The America has previously applied a 35 percent duty on each Canada's products - though many are excluded under an existing commercial pact. It has also imposed sector-specific taxes on Canadian items, including a 50% tax on steel and aluminum and twenty-five percent on automobiles.

In his post, sent while he was flying to Malaysia, Trump appeared to state he was adding 10 percentage points to the existing tariffs.

Three-quarters of Canada's overseas sales are sold to the America, and the province is the location of the bulk of the nation's vehicle industry.

Ronald Reagan Ad Information

The commercial, which was paid for by the provincial government, quotes late President Ronald Reagan, a GOP member and symbol of conservative values, remarking import taxes "harm every American".

The video includes segments from a 1987-era national radio address that focused on international trade.

The Foundation, which is tasked with preserving the ex-president's heritage, had criticised the commercial for using "selective" audio and video and said it misrepresented Reagan's speech. It further noted the provincial government had not sought consent to use it.

Continuing Tensions

In his message on Truth Social on Saturday, the President said that the commercial should have been removed earlier.

"Ontario's Commercial was to be pulled RIGHT AWAY, but they allowed it to air recently during the baseball championship, aware that it was a DECEPTION," he posted, while en route to Southeast Asia.

the Premier had previously vowed to broadcast the Ronald Reagan commercial in all GOP-controlled region in the America.

The two the President and the PM will be participating in the ASEAN in Southeast Asia, but Trump informed journalists joining him aboard his aircraft that he does not have any "intention" of speaking with his Canadian counterpart during the visit.

In his post, the President also claimed the Canadian government of seeking to influence an forthcoming Supreme Court case which could terminate his whole import duty program.

The legal matter, to be considered by the American judiciary soon, will decide whether the tariffs are legal.

On last Thursday, Trump additionally criticized, claiming that the advertisement was intended to "meddle" with "the most significant legal case"

World Series Association

The Reagan commercial is not the sole way that the region – location of the Toronto Blue Jays – is using the baseball championship as a opportunity to condemn Donald Trump's duties.

In a clip shared on last Friday, Ford and Gavin Newsom Gavin Newsom jokingly placed wagers about which side would triumph the series.

The two leaders repeatedly joked about import taxes in the video, with Ford pledging to send Newsom a tin of Canadian syrup if the LA Dodgers succeed.

"The import tax might set me back a few extra bucks at the crossing nowadays, but it'll be acceptable," he wrote.

In response, Governor Newsom requested the Premier to resume allowing US-made drinks to be available in Ontario liquor stores, and pledged to provide "California's premium grape drink" if the Toronto team win.

They ended their dialogue both stating: "To a fantastic MLB finals, and a tax-free friendship between the province and California."
