The Reform UK leader Accuses Educators of ‘Poisoning Our Kids’ on Racial Topics

Nigel Farage has asserted that teachers would go on strike shortly after a Reform UK election victory, charging that they are “harming young minds” by instructing children that African-Caribbean youth are oppressed and white children oppressors.

At a gathering for a private US Christian college, Farage outlined his viewpoint on British schools, stating that the “Marxist left” had “taken over schooling”.

“I expect a walkout by educators soon after securing a victory,” Farage commented in response to questions.

“They are corrupting young minds. They are telling them to be ashamed of their country. They are telling little Johnny, who’s eight, who is black that he is oppressed and a white child of the same age that he is a perpetrator. They create division, instead of fostering unity. They promote this harmful mindset.”

Reacting to these assertions, Daniel Kebede rejected the notion that the education system was controlled by Marxists as “nonsense”. He pointed out that industrial action must relate to teachers’ terms and conditions, and doubted whether Reform would attack these immediately upon entering government.

“The politician has crafted his political career on coded rhetoric and currently, like Trump, he is lining up teachers and their unions for a fight,” the union leader said.

“I think that’s grossly irresponsible. Neither I nor our union – advocate such divisive theories as he’s suggesting … If he were to lead the government he would undermine state services, including education … and he would be a disaster for students and learning.”

Reform, which tops surveys by a significant margin, has provided limited specifics on its educational plans and does not appear to have designated an education lead.

Nonetheless, Farage’s remarks suggested the group would reform the educational framework. He said: “We have got a massive job with education – truly monumental. And, it won’t happen quickly; it will take us years, years to turn this around.”

Farage expressed that younger generations are receptive to analytical thought, but millennials were “absolutely hopeless”.

Honoring Charlie Kirk, he commented: “All I want education to do to teach critical thinking – to instruct people that multiple perspectives exist and they should decide for themselves rather than current practices where one is virtuous and one is evil. It’s a massive job in both Britain and America.”

Reform has previously clashed with a major educators’ organization, after Kebede called the party “far right and racist” and dismissed Farage as “a cheap imitation”.

The politician has charged the union head with being “a self-declared Marxist” … someone who is absolutely determined that young minds be corrupted at school, their minds should be poisoned regarding national issues” and maintained that the union is trying to indoctrinate youth opposed to his party.

Roughly a million individuals work in schools in the UK, about half of whom are teachers and the remainder being assistants and administrative personnel. The major education union has about 450,000 members.

National strikes over educators’ salaries and work environment in 2023 led to significant interruptions in schools and extensive missed instruction for children.

During the American gathering, Farage also pledged to help spread the digital courses of the institution in the UK. He stated organizations like it were “key to resistance”, adding that: “I am serious. I will help garner hundreds of thousands, if not millions of youth to your online courses. I make that commitment now and I will follow through.”

The institution, a small private Christian college, offers free courses. Its website states: “A scientific, literary, theological, political, and moral education is necessary for personal happiness and to perpetuate the blessings of civil and religious liberty. The college furnishes these beautiful courses for no charge to all who wish to learn.”
